Carrock Fell is the dark fell (in the direction Pal is looking) Bowscale Fell is the dark fell at the top of the photograph (with the ridge just in front being The Tongue) with Bannerdale Crags (with its deep inverted ‘V’shaped gullies) in front and Sharp Edge in the centre (leading to Blencathra summit) with Pal looking at the route we will take shortly having descended to Scales Tarn then returning to the summit via Sharp Edge.
