Looking south from Fellbarrow you can see the summit of Blake Fell and in the centre, Burnbank Fell and Owsen Fell.

Again from Fellbarrow you can see the green fells of Carling Knott part of Blake Fell and Burnbank Fell on the right.

At the base of Carling Knott which is a long high shoulder of Blake Fell and Burnbank Fell to the right, is Holme Wood on the south side of Loweswater.  Can you see the shape the woods have been planted in?

It’s in the shape of a crouching pheasant, the ‘Loweswater Pheasant’.  It was deliberately planted as a shaped and coloured artwork many years ago.  The bird’s eye, though hard to see in this photograph, is made up of a circular stand of larches.  In autumn the yellowing larch leaves will be in high contrast with the dark green of the spruce and fir!  Photograph taken from the southern viewing point on Low Fell.
